Weekend Fun

After nearly four months of maternity leave, Melissa went back to work this week. For those of you who don't know, she is a Labor and Delivery nurse who works exclusively weekends. The schedule is hardly ideal (it basically wipes out our social life), but we like it because it keeps our kids out of daycare (which we can't afford, anyway). Since this was my first "Daddy Weekend" with Cade AND Reese, I figured it warranted a blog update (we really live fast-paced lives, don't we?).

Cade showing off his first tattoo: Spiderman's head. Based on what he's seen among NFL players (both on T.V. and in his football card collection), Cade is quite fascinated by tattoos. In fact, he insists he's going to get a couple of them when he grows up; he wants his name tattooed on one arm and "Chargers" tattooed on the other. As you can imagine, Melissa was delighted by this announcement.

Reese is the perfect second child ... she is very independent and does not demand to be held very often, which makes it much easier to attend to Cade (who, by contrast, relies heavily on personal attention). As long as she's in the room and can see everybody, she's perfectly happy.

It's a miracle! Both Cade and Reese looking at the camera at the same time ... with Cade smiling, no less! Believe me, this does not happen often.

Cade's favorite game to play these days is dominoes. Needless to say, this will probably be our No. 1 weekend pastime in the coming months.

And Reese's No. 1 weekend pastime? Watching Dad and brother play dominoes from her favorite seat.

Ever since Reese arrived and started cutting into his attention, Cade has really committed himself to physical comedy. One of his new shticks is taking Reese's clothing and trying to stick over his head. As one who loved the late Chris Farley's "fat guy in a little coat" routine, this makes me laugh every time.

Cade needs to work on his personal space boundaries; he only speaks to Reese from this distance!

Testing to see if her ear is ticklish ... it's not.

I really wish they made these types of towels for adults.

Our comic prodigy strikes again! Here, in Farley-esque fashion, he performs, "Big Boy with a Baby Towel".
